Just like water is to sand, I want to be near you always.

Just like water is to sand, I want to be near you always.

My dear blog readers, first off, I would like to thank you for the overwhelming number of entries I have received for the Kaua’i game. Your suggestions get me more and more amped up for our upcoming trip.
For those who weren’t able to send their entries in time, do not fret!
Due to some shuffling in my own schedule, our trip has been rescheduled to a (slightly) later date. This means the deadline has been extended – to March 1st to be exact. So, you have exactly half a month to come up with your unique ideas and locations for what *you* want me to capture in the lovely Garden Isle!

A welcome downpour of events flooded my life with pleasant surprises.
Happy Thursday all!

Patience is something I try to live by but oftentimes find myself struggling with. A pleasant surprise came today, one that made realize that the ‘right one’ makes the wait, albeit long, oh so worthwhile. Here’s to moving forward and exiting times ahead!

I haven’t used my macro lens in a while, it feels neglected ![]()
I hope you had a sweet Monday!

As some of you know, my husband is my favorite photographer
He was the reason why I got into photography, and is still the most enduring force that makes me strive to be better. Sure, I probably would have taken this same path – eventually – but he was the one who made me fall in love with it. A fact I know I will perpetually draw my inspiration from.
So, to show my humble gratitude and more deeply honor the most important person in my life – I am sharing his beautiful black and white work here in my blog. These are some of the many incredible images he has captured since I’ve known him.

The image above was taken during my first trip up with E to Yosemite National Park. E had been to the park several times before, so he knew Half Dome was the perfect first (huge) day hike for me! I still remember vividly the rush I felt as I ‘ran down’ fast holding on to the ropes stayed upright with poles.

The light had just started to faint from this fern grove in Golden Gate National Park (San Francisco). I was busy fumbling through my backpack for a sweater when I noticed E, quietly crouched beside this bench. People were just walking past him, oblivious to the beauty that was unfolding.

We had driven to Wyoming from Idaho after attending a wedding to check out Yellowstone National Park. This picture reminds me of another small personal milestone. You see, before E, I was never comfortable with fast moving water. When E asked me if I would jump in with him in the cascade, I thought he was nuts. He was serious. In my attempt to impress the guy I was dating, I leaped. Even to this day, over SIX years later, I can remember the liberating feeling I enjoyed as my toes first touched the water. Here I am relaxing on a flat rock at Cascade Canyon, Wyoming.

E took the above two shots at Tahoe National Forest. It was the week after we first met and he had asked me if I’d want to come out to a camping trip up in Tahoe. I gracefully declined as I had to work. After looking at these and the rest of the images he took home with him, I swore to myself I will never pass-up on ANY more camping trip invites from him after that.
E, thank you so much for your unwavering generosity, your never ending support and incredible love. I am forever inspired by the energy you bring. I am thankful not only for the milestones you have paved way for me, but for the many we’ve shared together as a couple, and now as a family. Life is not only good with you, it’s GRAND.
