Dreaming of Hawai’i

There’s something about Hawaii that beckons me every year.
A ‘come-hither’ look that I find so overpowering.
Here’s Queen’s Bath, a shot I took back in 2007.
A redux for an impending visit. Yes, the tradition will continue.

{Game} Kaua’i Game 2010 Winners Announced

We have winners folks! Congratulations to Brenda Boeff (from Colorado) and Jennifer McAdams (from Utah) for winning my Kaua’i Game 2010. Each will receive 16*20 print copy of the waterfall pictured below, taken while on a hike along Wailua in Kaua’i this year. Thanks to all those who participated, I couldn’t believe how much response I got and I am grateful for everybody’s support and kind words! Until next game!

Reason for the Journey

“We may run, walk, stumble, drive, or fly,
but let us never lose sight of the reason for the journey,
or miss a chance to see a rainbow on the way.”

Prince Kuhio

Every time we visit Kaua’i we spend at least one sunset here.
A tradition, an ode, a promise.
The sunset here never disappoints.
I hope you all are having a lovely evening.

Wishing G was here!

Good night Kuhio!

A Tradition Continues

Year after year, despite our incredibly hectic schedules we find ourselves coming back to Hawaii. Undeterred by the chaos at work, we always break apart from such madness and take a tropical breather. This year we are coming back to our favorite island and it will be extra special since it is our babymoon! In addition to revisiting our beloved spots, we hope to do more exploration and check out the places we didn’t get the chance to see when we were last there. It’s crazy how I could see myself spending many months in this island and never get tired of its remote beauty. We are excited. Let the tradition continue.

Challenging Yourself (even more)

When I feel too phsically and mentally exhausted from the usual demands of parenting and family life, I transport myself to that sweet sunny afternoon at Utah’s Zion NP. Suddenly all my concerns seem so trivial and distant.

Perched on top of a rock I chose to rest my throbbing feet, it was serene all around me. So quiet I swear I could hear my own heart beat.

Angel’s Landing, 2 1/2 miles to the summit, elevation gain of almost 1500 feet most of which you pick up at the last 1/2 mile to the peak. Fairly easy, right? The bigger challenge for me was to do it when I was 7 months pregnant. My son Thor did cartwheels in my belly when we reached the top. I think he approved of the view.

With this second pregnancy, I plan to do something similar. Crossing my fingers E’s hectic work schedule permits us to take a trip in spring :)

Yosemite In Black and White

I love capturing Yosemite in black and white.
I find that in doing so, it actually opens your eyes to many of her facets often overlooked in color.
Here’s my monochromatic tribute to the grand Yosemite National Park.

Trekking in knee deep snow without snowshoes was ‘kind of’ fun ;)

The view at Dewey Point.
Breaking fresh packed snow for 4 miles one-way is no walk in the park, but it’s SO worth it!

Reunited

I saw my loves today … it felt so good after being apart for a long time (at least for me ;) ). There’s another reunion I’ve been looking forward to, ssssh! It’s a surprise, stay tuned! For now, I’m leaving you with this teaser, could it be true?! :)
